Features
Depending on your needs, the Mastercard Gateway offers several optional features for handling particular data and transaction types, or optimizing your payment flows:
Payment options inquiries
You can request the gateway to provide information about all the various payment options you can offer to your payer based on your merchant profile and acquirers. For example, which payment methods and card types you can accept, or what kind of payment plans you can provide if the payer wants to use instalments to pay for their order. In addition, if your payer wants to use a different currency than your own, you can request the gateway for a Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) quote that allows you to show the payer what exactly their order will cost in their preferred currency.
Reporting
You can use the Reporting API to download data from the gateway about all the transactions related to your merchant account. You can get formatted reports about transactions created or updated within a specified period. The reports can be downloaded in the CSV format for analysis.
Webhook notifications
You can receive notifications on your system when a transaction for an order is created or updated in the gateway. This allows you to update your own records accordingly. The notifications can be sent to you as Webhooks or email messages, and you can also configure your payers to receive some notifications via email.
Transit fares
The gateway offers special features for merchants handling contactless transactions related to transit fares. For example, you can aggregate a payer's transaction fares across multiple trips for a certain time period and up to a certain amount.
Card present
If you use Point of Sale (POS) terminals for gathering payments, you can use the gateway to manage Cardholder Present (CHP) transactions through your terminal.
Supplementary data
You can add supplementary data to your requests to support specific industry requirements. In addition, supplementary data can be used to ensure a smoother processing flow for the payment as it moves through the various actors in the payment system.
Test cards
The gateway supports various test cards that you can use with your test merchant account to trigger specific responses and results when you test your gateway integration.
